My cat-friendly Brooklyn apartment 🐈

I've lived in Brooklyn for almost 12 years, and I've always had two cats. Here's how I make the most of a small space as a crazy cat lady:

1. Scratch pads on the carpet. Cats get bored easily, and they need something to scratch! If you don't provide it, that thing will be your couch or carpet.

2. Cradles and beds. I think I have 4 cat beds in my house, which is totally unnecessary, but it's nice to provide something that will help them stay cozy, especially in winter.

3. Fuzzy rugs. I don't know about yours, but my cats love these things.

4. Shelves and baskets for them to climb on. This is essential - utilize height! Cats need space, especially if you have more than one. The easiest way to give them that (without getting a huge cat tree that takes up half the room) is to put something on the wall for them to climb on.

5. Make your windows cozy. Whether it's a window hammock or just a pad on the windowsill, cats love somewhere to post up and look at cars and birds all day.

6. Automatic feeders. I love these for when I need to spend a night away. Just be careful not to leave food inside them long-term so you don't attract pests.

7. Toys. I love a little something for my cats to play with, especially one that fits with the aesthetic of my apartment. This wooden scratching post with a built-in ball game keeps my babies occupied for hours lol.
