If you think this is clickbait, I wish it were! Unfortunately, it’s not...

I resigned just two weeks into my new job, and here's why—breaking down the red flags I encountered!

🚩 Verbal Abuse: I was hired for a role where I had no prior experience, and this was fully acknowledged by my reporting officer. Just two weeks in, I found myself struggling to understand wishes / requirements and tried to seek clarification. Instead of receiving the support or clarification I needed, I was met with a phone call after hours that began with, “you deserve to be scolded.” excuse me...?

🚩 Lack of Clear Roles: Even after two weeks, I still had no clarity on my responsibilities. With no proper onboarding process in place, I was left to navigate workflows on my own. When mistakes were flagged on a project, I was blamed for not prioritizing tasks I didn't even know were mine. She really questioned what my purpose in the organisation was. Uhm... I don't know too?

🚩 Last-Minute Workload: During my first week, I was assigned last minute assignments to be completed by that evening. After trying to confirm details and getting no response, my colleagues advised me to go home due to my lack of access to the necessary resources. Ultimately, I was scolded for the work not being submitted on time and accused of shifting responsibilities.

🚩 Dammed if I do, Dammed if I don't: After the last incident, my RO insisted it was my job to chase her for updates. I took her advice for the next urgent (and again last minute!!!!) task, only to be reprimanded for disturbing her. So... how do I work with you then?

It’s ironic that a charity intending to serve others fosters such an abusive environment for its staff.

Did I make the right choice to resign in this situation?
