Preparing yourself for a good workout is essential. If your goal is to truly transform your body (whether that is weight loss or muscle gain) you need to prioritize what you do before and after every workout. For now let’s talk about the pre-workout routine you need to start implementing. ⬇️💗🏋🏽‍♀️

1️⃣ Eat! Having something in your tank before a workout is beyond important. Fueling your body prior to moderate/hard exercise provides your body with energy, allowing you to put more effort in your workouts and help your body not get nauseous or dizzy while exerting energy during your lift or workout. You don’t need a full meal before but a snack is always a good idea!

2️⃣ Pre-Workout, totally optional but I do find it helpful. When I am feeling sluggish or not totally in the mood for a workout, pre-workout gives me that boost to get it going. There are many types of pre-workout drinks so it depends on what your body responds well to (caffeine or non-stimulant). Many pre-workout drinks also include other supplements, vitamins and electrolytes that help improve your workout as well!

3️⃣ Mobility and stretching prior to your workout is important. I have several other posts about this with some good examples on movements to warm up your body. But essentially performing some kind of warm-up routine will get your body ready for exercise, get blood flowing and open up your joints / muscles to have a better workout. And most warm-ups only need to be 5-10 min.! The one in the picture is a pilates based warm-up that my clients and I do!

4️⃣ Put on a cute outfit. Now this isn’t a scientifically proven fact... but look good, lift good? Putting on a workout outfit you feel good in will help you feel more confident and comfortable during your workout. Plus it’s always fun to take a post-workout selfie and share your outfit. :)
